Limb Lengthening: Tibia

Presenting

This 35 year old woman had a short left leg from a congenital problem. She had undergone several previous surgeries at outside facilities by other surgeons, but her lower leg was still bowed and 2 inches shorter than her right leg, which made walking difficult and required her to wear a shoe that had a large lift.

Result After Treatment by Dr. Brinker

These x-rays taken after Ilizarov lengthening show that the left leg is now straight and equal in length to the right. The patient walks without assistance in normal shoes.
